CHANGE

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies."  -Unknown
Working on some layering with paper and paints to create texture and depth.  This is a tile I recently worked on.  It reminds me of the seasons changing and the coming of winter...
Embrace change!

"The biggest ADVENTURE you can take is to live the LIFE of your DREAMS"  - Oprah Winfrey

Hope you enjoy this card.  I used stencils, sprays, paints, and stamps to make this layered design. Then I added some 3D flowers and other embellishments to add some depth.

Happy Monday!  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness I have created my version of a "go pink" card!  I used some gelatos and water color pencils to create the background and then I used different stamps to add some layers.  I wanted to use as many shades of pink as possible!  Enjoy your day of creativity and inspiration!

I had a request by a friend to replicate a card design onto a canvas.  This is the result.  I used an 8 X 10 canvas and layered some hand painted, stenciled and embossed paper.  Then I used more layers of paper and paint with gel medium.  I then used some stamps and paint to create on top of the dried images!
This is the end product.  Lots of texture and patterns.  I think I am going to have to pick up some more canvases and experiment again sometime soon. Happy Monday!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month!  Domestic Abuse is an issue I feel very strongly about.  I have been an advocate working to end domestic violence for over a decade now.  I wanted to share some of that with everyone as well as bring some out in the form of art.  I am inspired by the fearless women I work with everyday!  Please join me in putting an end to domestic violence!  Speak up!  Help out! #nomoreviolence

Wow it has been 3 months since my last post!  I have been playing with my kids and enjoying the summer at the ocean and the lakes! I have tried to make some time to keep creating and designing, but totally slacked off with my blog.   I am hoping to get back into it since school has started and I will be able to focus a bit more without the boys always interrupting me!!!

I thought I would start with these fun cards that I just made...
My girlfriends twins just had a birthday and I made a few cards for the kids!!!

This card I made because I knew I wanted to make something fun for a 3 year old boy.  I found this monkey sticker and thought it was perfect so I used this to inspire me.  Designed the card around the sticker and then used some Gelatos to make a fun background and cut out a tree for him to hang from!!! Just an easy little card that was really fun to make.

Yes, this was a Minnie Mouse request!!! My friends little girl adores Minnie Mouse!!! I wanted to make her a special little card with Minnie in mind.  I love how this turned out.  Its simple but bold and bright!  I used my circle punch and some layered paper and stamp to make this Minnie Mouse card.  It screams little girl!

This next card was made for a little girl as well.  I decided to stick with the themed cards and went totally Hello Kitty crazy! Again, this design is simple but fun and definitely girly!

I am taking some time for ME this month and hope to keep posting and creating!  After all it is STAMPTEMBER!!!!!!

Father's Day is around the corner and I have been working on some new cards for the special dads in everyone's lives... Cards for men can be tricky and I tend to gravitate toward a more feminine card but I think I came up with some fun Artsy cards for all the dads!!!  Please check out the cards I have posted on my Etsy site....

Here are a couple that are posted currently.  I entered one of them into the Monday Simon Says Challenge!

Whew I have been busy filling a very large order of Birthday Invitations!  My good friend ordered them for her little mans 1st Birthday!  50 invites!!!  Should be a fun day.  I have never had such a big order but I loved making them all.  Here's a sneak peek at them all before them get packaged up...
In addition to making the invitations for this party, I happily sold several cards from my Etsy shop!!! Please feel free to stop by and check out my new inventory!  I have added 6 new cards and hope you all will visit frequently.  I would love to hear from my visitors.  I am so glad to see the sun shining today!  I think I will head out and enjoy the nice sun while it lasts..

So excited... I have entered this card in this weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday challenges...  This week the challenges are to use a "big" stamp and keep it "simple."  I picked this card to enter both challenges because it meets both of those criteria!  I used a glossy card stock and then stamped with a large pattern design layering large black dots over the design.  I then used a patterned paper and distressed it a bit by tearing it and stamped a Happy Birthday message.  This card is very simple but bright and fun!  Cross your fingers... hope I win this week!
Happy April vacation!  I love the fact that the snow has melted here and the flowers have just started to pop out!  I am not a winter person even though in Maine the winters are very long!  With that said I have been playing with some cards that remind me of spring and summer!!!  I just created a few different cards using flowers and butterflies.  Here are a couple creations I just came up with over the past week or so...
With this card I wanted to create a 3D look that reminded me of spring!  I used and embossing folder by Sissix and some varied card stock.  I used a stamp set from Stampin' Up and used some watercolor pencils for the flowers.  Then I used some printed card stock for the butterflies!  I love the look.  Its elegant and screams spring!!!

With my second card I wanted a spring look for an Easter card.  With this creation I used some patterned card stock to add some layers and colors, then I embossed a honeycomb pattern on white card stock.  I then added some butterflies made with different patterned card stock and a small chick stamp from Stampin' Up. I love the colors in this card!!!  So happy that the warmer weather is on the way!!!!

Stay tuned for more of my latest creations!!

Good Morning!  The sun is shining and I have been busy creating some new cards this weekend!  I have several Birthdays to celebrate this week and many cards to give out!  Here is one that I was working on.  I love Washi Tape!!! Its so fun to use and there are so many patterns and colors to choose from!  I am a bit obsessed with it right now!  Here is one of my creations made using only card stock and Washi Tape.

Please check me out and write some comments...I love feedback!  You can see the challenge entries at www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge

Here is a look at my Birthday Card entry:

For this card I used some Distressed paints (Tim Holtz) and then I layered in a few stampin' up stamps using black Ranger ink.  I then used some dye cut embellishments, twine and brads to help finish it off!  I hope you like it!

I was having fun with the colors they looked great together!
More later so keep checking back to see what else is going on!

Its been a couple weeks since I tested the waters with my first post!  I am still working on this site and learning how to become blogger!!! I am hoping this site will continue to change as I figure things out!
The picture above is of a card I recently made for a Baby Shower.  I embossed the card with stars and then used an owl stamp and some cut outs that I made to place the owl in a tree.  I added a little ribbon at the top for an added effect. I hope you like this idea.  I am in the process of opening a shop on Etsy...  I will keep you posted.

A little Info about me:
I really enjoy making handmade cards.  Card making started out as something to do while visiting with friends.  A few of my girlfriends and I would sit around a table with yummy food and share different craft ideas.  It has grown into my personal escape.  I have been making cards for years but this year I decided its time to share them with others.  There is no specific media that I prefer.  I like to try new products and test new styles/techniques all the time.  I am hoping this site will allow me to share some of those techniques and styles with you!  No two cards are identical since they are all handcrafted.
Creating cards allows me a place to express myself, they are tiny pieces of me.  Welcome to my Petite Inspirations.
